The Isle of Wight

The traditional resorts here are congregated on the eastern side of the Island and are only a few miles away, leaving the rest of the Island quiet and rural. There's still plenty to do both locally and further afield and you'll find that some of the most beautiful scenery in the Island is on our very doorstep - all for you to enjoy and explore at your own pace and in peace!

Almost half the Island has been designated by the Countryside Commission as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (189 sq km). Chalk cliffs, downland, tidal estuary, wooded coastline and the two Heritage Coasts are all recognised as being of special importance

The Undercliff is a name given to the large area of coastal landslip which skirts the southern edge of the Island. A favourable climate here has resulted in a semi-tropical environment like no other on the Island. This unique, attractive, tumbling landscape is mainly covered by lush vegetation.
